Introduction to Insight Breathwork

Ever since my very first breathwork session with my friend Scott Kelly, I’ve been hooked.

Scott’s Insight Breathwork takes you deep into your body, beyond the noise of your brain. It allows you to let go of emotional blockages that weigh you down. Insight Breathwork clears the nervous system so you can have new insights, clarity of mind, and feel the joy that’s already present.

What Breathwork Does For Me

✅ Breathwork quiets the chatty, narrative mind like nothing I’ve ever experienced.

✅ Enormous amounts of energy are moved in a typical breathwork session, creating a shift in consciousness. I feel more in touch with my true nature, free of judgment, thought, opinion, or identity.

✅ My daily breathing is deeper, I feel physically lighter and full of energy.

✅ I often have insights during or shortly after a breathwork session. I feel more grounded and less identified with thought after a session.

✅ Because breathwork moves so much energy, I find leaning into emotion (which is just energy in-motion) natural and effortless. Emotional releases such as laughing or crying are very common.

These are just some of my experiences; you will get what you most need. Some common benefits Scott sees with his clients are:

  • Reduction in Stress
  • Releasing Physical, Mental and Emotional Blockages
  • Improvement in Sleep
  • Transforming Stress and Anxiety
  • Increased Clarity and Insight
  • Increased Awareness of Your True Essential Nature
  • Releasing Physical Pain
  • Improvement in Wellbeing and Joy
  • Increased Energy and Vitality
  • Elimination of Fatigue and Brain Fog

And much, much more…

The Workshop

Since my very first session, I’ve known that I want to somehow share this with you. So, Scott and I (mostly Scott!) will be offering an Introduction to Breathwork workshop, including a guided breathwork journey, so you can experience this amazing practice yourself.

When: Saturday, October 28th at 10:30am EST (7:30am PST, 3:30pm UK).

The workshop will take place on Zoom and will last approximately 3 hours with two short breaks.

What to expect: Scott will provide an introduction to breathwork, its long history, and wide-ranging benefits. He’ll demonstrate diaphramatic breathing and walk us through a short exercise for head and heart coherence.

We’ll then go into our guided breathwork journey which will consist of approximately 30 minutes of breathing and a 15 minute meditation period.

Finally, we’ll come back as a group for integration and optional sharing.

What to Bring/Prepare

You’ll want a comfortable place to lay flat on your back during the breath journey. A bed, couch, or mat on the floor are all fine.

Other considerations and things to have on hand:

  • Headphones, if possible. These will provide a more immersive experience.
  • An empty stomach is best. Please don’t eat 1-2 hours before the session.
  • A blanket and a pillow. It is common for body temperature to fluctuate as we breathe.
  • A water bottle.
  • An eye mask is recommended but not required.
  • A optional journal if you’d like to capture any insights post journey

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a medical condition. Can I still participate?

When someone does have a listed contraindication (see below), and wants to participate, we have them breathe in a slow, relaxed and “normal” pattern and they go on a musical journey. This journey is also very effective and participants still have very powerful experiences.

For this workshop, in addition to the Insight Breathwork Journey, we will be exploring some other breathing techniques that don’t have any contraindications.

Here are the contraindications for Insight Breathwork. In all cases, check with your doctor before participating in the workshop:

Aneurysms

Asthma – Have your inhaler available.

Cardiovascular disease

Detached Retina

Epilepsy

Glaucoma

High Blood Pressure

History of Stroke or Seizure

Osteoporosis

Pregnancy

Bipolar or Schizophrenia

Any other medical or psychiatric or physical condition which affect ability to engage in activities involving intense physical or emotional release.

If you have any questions, please email support@dramyjohnson.com

I can't participate at the workshop time. Will there be a recording available?

If you sign up for the workshop but are unable to make it live, you will receive access to the recording of it for 7 days. After 7 days, the recording will expire (this is due to music copyright laws – Scott curates an amazing playlist for each journey). You’ll however be able to access the recording and practice as many times as you like during those 7 days. All participants will receive access to the recording for 7 days.

Will I be able to practice breathwork on my own after this workshop?

Yes! The class will give you the basics so you can practice on your own. You’ll also have access to the class recording for 7 days after the class that you can use to practice (after 7 days the recording will no longer be available due to music copyright laws).
