Ask Amy: How do I Know if What I’m Creating is Good or Not?

Kika is a screenwriter.

She finished her last screenplay by hard work and positive thinking, “guarding against” intrusive thoughts as she says, and deciding to believe that what she was working on was good.

The feedback she received afterward was not all that positive though, and now she feels stuck not knowing what to believe.

She asks: “How can we know if our opinion of something we write is truly good or bad if the machine that is supposed to generate great ideas is the same machine that shoots down every idea?”
