All human suffering is due to some very simple misunderstandings.
All habits and addictions, worries, and feelings of stuckness stem from some very simple misunderstandings about life.
They come from misunderstandings about who we really are and how our human experience works.
With these misunderstandings cleared up, life makes more sense. This is true anywhere in life– when we clearly and accurately understand how something works, we have a very different experience of that thing.
When you deeply see how your computer works, for example, you’re going to have a much easier, richer experience using it. The more you understand how it works, the more you can do with it. You can use all the features. You’ll worry less when it doesn’t work the way you thought it would.
There’s less mystery, so we feel more secure.
The same is true for our human experience. When we clearly get how it works, everything gets easier and better. Said the other way around, the extent to which life feels hard, confusing, or complicated equals the extent to which we are misunderstanding it. Our mind is adding in meaning, lay theories, old beliefs, assumptions, expectations, fears that appear true, but aren’t.
Confusion, anxiety, depression, habits and addictions, show us that we’re tangled in misunderstanding, not clearly seeing the simple way things truly work.
This is why I created The Little School of Big Change. Everything in the school points people toward a clearer understanding of how our human experience works so that you can have an easier, richer experience of life.
